This is the UK's leading charity for people who suffer from Crohn's disease or Colitis and which is represented by local groups throughout the country.
These groups aim to raise funds and awareness for the charity, also to hold educational meetings and also informal drop in events where people can come along and speak with others who understand what it is like to live with these conditions. In addition these local groups are supported by the charity at National level, who offer guidance and training for volunteers. The charity also works with the local health board to try and improve patient care for people in the Highlands.
Currently we have 7 members on the local organising team but we would like to expand this number.
In particular we have a vacancy for a Lead Volunteer whose roles would include being responsible for organising group meetings, following the charity's guidelines and procedures, attending training and development, and working with both our medical advisors on the local health board and the charity's staff at head office. Ideally someone who is enthusiastic and has some free time to raise the profile of the charity locally.
We would also like one or two more organising team members to support and help those already involved locally.
Although most of our volunteers do suffer from either Crohn's or Colitis this is not a requirement to be part of the team. It could be someone who has a family member or friend with the illness or anyone looking to help with a local charity.
